McNeese State (6-0, 5-0 Southland)
This Week: Northwestern State
The Cowboys stayed perfect* on the year following their 28-13 win over Central Arkansas on the purple turf. Likely to reach 7-0 this weekend when the previously unwinfeated Demons come calling.
Mississippi State (5-2, 1-2 SEC)
This Week: Kentucky
Lord have mercy is State's non-conference schedule ass. @ Southern Miss, Northwestern State, Troy, and Louisiana Tech, all building up to...Kentucky. Whew, don't strain yourself too much, Bulldogs. Alas, they beat the Bulldogs of the Ruston variety 45-20. 2014 September Heisman winner Dak Prescott hung 347 yards in the air with three touchdowns to boot, but what's troubling is that he was also their leading rusher with...51 yards.
Auburn (4-2, 1-2 SEC)
This Week: @ Arkansas
The War Eagles played on Thursday night in Lexington, which means nearly everyone watched them almost lose to Kentucky 30-27. As a general rule. Kentucky should probably not be passing more than another SEC team, especially a spread team, which Auburn is. But alas, the Wildcats passed for 100 yards more than the Tigers did, 359 to 255. College and Mag is issuing a hard reset of the season, which I can't really blame them for honestly.
Syracuse (3-3, 1-2 ACC)
This Week: Pitt
The Orangemen went into triple overtime with Virginia and lost when their kicker missed a 48 yarder, which lead to the Cavaliers walking off on a three yard rush. Tough to way to lose a game, but the Orange can't sit around and feel sorry for themselves since they have to turn around and play host to Pitt, who are sneakily good this year, boasting a 5-1 record, holding on to a Top 25 ranking, and leading whatever division the ACC arbitrarily decided they're in.
Seriously ACC, just go to a North and South division set up and stop trying to make Atlantic and Coastal a thing.
Eastern Michigan (1-6. 0-3 MAC)
This Week: @ Northern Illinois
Got laughed out of Ohio by #19 Toledo by a score of 63-20.
South Carolina (3-4, 1-4 SEC)
This Week: BYE
The Gamecocks got their first SEC win on the year and Shawn Elliot got his first ever win as a head coach against Vanderbilt, 19-10. For Sakerlina to be bowl eligible, they will have to find three wins against Texas A&M, Tennessee, Florida, The Citadel, and Clemson. Good luck.
Florida (6-1, 4-1 SEC)
This Week: BYE
But seriously, morale is probably the highest it has ever been after a loss among Florida fans after the Gators played LSU to an incredibly incredibly even contest, mostly due in part of Jim "Elway Teeth" McElwain's train running well ahead of schedule.
Western Kentucky (6-1, 4-0 C-USA)
This Week: @ LSU
55-28 over head coach-less North Texas, with a chunk of the Mean Green's points coming when the Hilltoppers let off of the gas. When your only loss on the year came 38-35 to an Indiana team that's good by their standards, you're doing pretty good for a mid-major. The Hilltoppers are averaging 44 points a game and are pretty good at playing up to their opponents and are just as capable at playing Alabama-style boa constrictor as they are playing football auction. Western Kentucky has the 3rd best passing offense in the nation, rolling up 2850 yards leading to an average of 407 yards a game. Just to give you an idea of how LSU stacks up to that, the Tigers are 120th with 812 yards on the year, averaging 135 a game. LSU's secondary hasn't been as great as we've hoped it would be, and they won't be able to take the weekend off this time around. The Hilltoppers will put up points in Death Valley, so go ahead and prepare for that, because Big Red is coming and Big Red gonna eat.
Alabama (6-1, 3-1 SEC)
This Week: Tennessee
After using A&M's mistakes to their advantage (more on this later), Alabama cruised to a 41-23 beating of the Aggies at Kyle Field. This week the Tide look to extend their win streak on the Third Saturday In October to nine straight before hitting a bye to prep for our big date. Can't wait for prom!!!!
Arkansas (2-4, 1-2 SEC)
This Week: Auburn
Just like South Carolina, the Razorbacks are in a tight spot, if not tighter. In order for the Razorbacks to go bowling, they'll have to pick up 4 wins against Auburn, UT-Martin, Ole Miss, LSU, Mississippi State, and Missouri. So if Arkansas has hopes for postseason play, BERT will all but have to beat a bad Auburn team this weekend or hope to play spoiler.
Ole Miss (5-2, 2-1 SEC)
This Week: Texas A&M
Memphis is without a doubt the best Group Of 5 team and has a real chance to crash the party given the right breaks. Justin Fuente has built something out of a program that not too long ago was an afterthought and I'm a huge fan. With all that said,
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAA
Texas A&M (5-1, 2-1 SEC)
This Week: @ Ole Miss
Well, if you take away all of the pick sixes, Texas A&M wins 23-20, and that counts for something if you believe in moral victories. But it doesn't change the final score. Now the Aggies are in danger of dropping two straight SEC West games and being all but eliminated from the race with their pending trip to Oxford where a pissed off Ole Miss team is waiting for them.
