Leonard Fournette Snubbed From Heisman Ceremony

Sophomore running back doesn't get the call to NYC.

Crystal LoGiudice-USA TODAY Sports

The Heisman brass named their top three and it did not include the nation's leader in rushing yards per game.

It's not horribly surprising considering how much steam Fournette's campaign lost following the Alabama game. Even if he posted three more solid performances that are casually dismissed, that public black eye to his resume proved too much to overcome.

Meanwhile the three finalists are Alabama's Derrick Henry, Clemson's Deshaun Watson and Stanford's Christian McCaffrey. All three are worthy candidates in their own right, for various reasons. Henry's ability to shoulder extreme workload and not miss any time is remarkable. Watson is the primary reason Clemson is sitting with a no. 1 seed, while compiling his own list of impressive statistics. And, well, McCaffrey is a tour de force on the West Coast that us Southerners should probably appreciate a little more.

Will Fournette use this slight as motivation? Did he deserve an invite to New York? Or is this just another case of SEC Bias Pawl, wait that doesn't make sense.
