LSU finishes their mini tour with MOST HATED RIVALS Tulane in Turchin Stadium, which a monstrosity in the fact that it is all turf with the exception of the pitchers mound. This serves absolutely no academic purpose and should be banned. This rivalry may not be what it used to be, because well, that's what happens when rivalry games become incredibly one sided. Over the past 7 years LSU has won 11 of the 14 matchups between the two and lead the all time series 178-126-3.
But in case you weren't aware, this is a rivalry game. I remember when this game was a much bigger deal than the weekend series that followed it (that may be true this week, but still). Hell, This game was LSU's first intercollegiate athletic contest ever with the first game being played in 1893. LSU won that game 10-8, setting the tradition of owning Tulane which we carry on today.
Now, onto the actual game.
Tulane is good. If it wasn't for the fact that they're in a top-heavy non-power conference, they'd be in great shape for the postseason. But as of now, they're sitting on the bubble in my own projections. The Green Wave are coming off of a series loss against UC Riverside, a team in the exact same boat as Tulane. Aside from that, their non-con slate is kinda bad. Their signature win is a 5-4 midweeker against Southeastern early in the season.
Tulane will throw Patrick Duester (3-1, .34), who has a monster 9 walks to 20 strikeouts ratio. LSU will counter with Russell Reynolds (1-0, 3.38).
