This is so much better than Southern or Southern Miss.
I would hate for The Pontiff Classic to be overshadowed by all the hate of a rivalry, but playing ULL or Tulane makes this soooo much more engaging. LSU leads the series all time 49-29 and have won 10 of the last 15 meetings, but ULL did take a regular season (albeit rain shortened) game in Baton Rouge last year.
LSU is going into this game looking for damage control after dropping their first series of the year to Kentucky, a series they really should have swept. LSU is batting .330 as a team, which is the second best in that nation. The Tigers will start Kyle Bouman (0-1, 8.31), but I expect a lot of arms to go to the mound tonight.
ULL looks to capitalize on LSU's bullpen issues, and hold an respectable .281 batting average. The Ragin Cajuns will start Connor Toups (1-1, 1.00).
