No real surprise here for LSU in the first USA Today/Amway College Football Coaches Poll of the season.

No real surprises here. LSU didn't finish in the poll last year, but the crowd at the top of the SEC West is tight enough that just about every team is in there, save for Mississippi State and Texas A&M. Ohio State just missed being a unanimous No. 1, which certainly makes sense. Not sure any team has seemed like such a mortal lock for the preseason top spot since USC in 2005 -- I want to say the Trojans were the last unanimous preseason No. 1, but I'm not sure on that.

Eight SEC teams are in the top 25, five from the Western Division. Tennessee is a bit of a surprise, just beating out State for that last spot. The Vols are quickly becoming the chic dark-horse pick in the East.

Well, thoughts? Opinions? I think 13 is about right for this team, although I think they have a fantastic chance to finish higher.
