Let's lead off with the Ross Dellenger quarterback piece from today's Advocate that most will be talking about: Sources give inside glimpse of LSU quarterback competition: Brandon Harris maturing; Anthony Jennings won't back down -- Talking to some anonymous sources, Delly confirms a lot of what we've heard re: the QB situation last season. That Brandon Harris's lack of playing time had to do with some maturity issues in the locker room and in the practice field. If he's put those behind him, I have no reason to believe he won't take advantage of the tremendous opportunity he has to take control of this job from Anthony Jennings.
Meanwhile, LSU swapped one defensive lineman for another -- Maquedius Bain announced via twitter that he will be transferring to a junior college. Bain was just coming off his suspension for the alleged unlawful entry incident with Jennings and Dwayne Thomas. He wasn't set to start, but he was valuable depth at tackle and end. This now makes three transfers at the same position out of the 2014 recruiting class.
Senior Mickey Johnson, however, is confirmed to be staying with the team after talk of a graduate transfer to Louisiana Tech. Johnson is a back-of-the-rotation guy, but at this point having some bodies around for camp at least is a good thing.
Overall LSU sits with five scholarship defensive ends, not counting the freshmen, and six-deep at DT with the addition of Johnson. So you can expect Ed Orgeron to bird-dog every defensive line recruit he can get his hands on in the 2016 recruiting cycle.
