Lunch With Les 9/14/15 - Auburn Pregame

Overall, Les Miles still sounds like he hasn't gotten over whatever sickness he's had since before the Miss St. kickoff...Praises the team with the usual generalities.. Miles would mention multiple times in this presser that penalties cost LSU 200+ yards of offense and as many as 17 point by his reckoning, without which "nobody would be arguing about the offense at all"...Praised the entire team for having no turnovers on the night, singled out Leonard Fournette and Ethan Pocic for their SEC PotW performances and also brought up Darrel Williams role as a complementary back...On defense, praised Tre-Davious White for making a game-saving stop on MSU's final drive, also liked the performance of Kevin Toliver and the sacks by Arden Key, Davon Godchaux, and Lewis Neal...general platitudes about Auburn, last year's game, and Will Muschamp...was asked who would start at guard and took a very long pause before answering Maea Teuhema, Will Clapp, or Josh Boutte. I'm guessing that means there really is no solid answer for that at this point...praises Coach O for the improvement by vets Lewis Neal and Tashawn Bower...

Quote of the day came when Miles was asked about preperations for a 2:30 game in the blistering hot Louisiana sun:

Yeah, hydrating at the cellular level is the new buzz word, right? In other words, you don't want to just get it in your stomach, you want to make sure that your body can get it to the different sections. So hydrate at a cellular level, that means start early and drink plenty.

...was questioned about Diarse, Dural, and Dupre being the only WRs who saw time. His answer about how the other WRs "will be counted on here pretty quick to play very significant football" sounds like some of these guys are just going to get in on special teams for now. Also, Isaiah Washington should return to practice this week...Brushes off a question about the playcalling being conservative by again pointing to the penalties costing LSU significant yards and points...Said Harris was very accurate and did exactly what he was asked to do in both the running and passing games...following up on a complaint Miles expressed in the postgame, he said that the officials made the right calls and on a second viewing, some calls he had originally disputed turned out to be "a great effort, it was a great effort hold, but flat holding."...still no timetable on Jalen Mills, but he's running on a pool treadmill now...the defense played a lot of 2 LB formations due to what Mississippi State was showing, Miles is looking forward to Lamar Louis getting on the field.
