Sophomore receiver John Diarse will transfer according to LSU athletics. His destination is not known, but rumors have TCU or Louisiana Tech as the favorites to land the redshirt sophomore, where he will have two years of eligibility.
In his two years as an LSU receiver, Diarse was a relatively productive third/fourth option in the LSU passing game, catching 400 yards and three touchdowns. He caught 4 catches for 45 yards in the Texas Bowl earlier this week.
Still, Diarse was never the top option in Baton Rouge and for a passing attack which generally struggled; his decision to transfer is understandable given the graduate rule and the ability to step in and play right away.
The departure of Diarse should not be a major concern, as the Tigers still have Trey Quinn, Tyron Johnson, DJ Chark and Derrick Dillon on the roster plus expected incoming freshman Stephen Sullivan and Dee Anderson. Diarse’s departure might sting a little more if Travin Dural decides to go pro, which would make the Tigers a little thin at receiver.
In an Instagram post from December 31 Diarse said he was thankful for his three years at LSU and was looking forward to new challenges in the coming year.
