5-Star Rashard Lawrence Commits to LSU

Will the 5-star defensive tackle stay home?

Student Sports

UPDATE: Lawrence picked LSU. LSU's grip on the no. 1 class grows firmer and I believe Bradley Dale Peveto is now the no. 1 recruiter in America.

Today's the day for Composite 5-star Rashard Lawrence to pick the college of his future. He will do so in the Neville High gym at 10:30 a.m. CST.

From the start, Lawrence has been one of Ed Orgeron's top prospects. In fact, he was the first recruit Orgeron went to visit after being hired. Presently confidence is exceptionally high that Lawrence will pick the home team:

He visited LSU this past weekend and that did nothing to discourage anyone from believing any differently.

The lone other team remaining in the race for his services is Ohio State. Lawrence has bonded with Ohio State defensive line coach Larry Johnson Sr., a reputable recruiter in his own right. Ohio State also loses a pair of defensive tackles, which could prove to offer more early playing time than may be available at LSU, who returns the top four players in their defensive tackle rotation. Could that be enough to swing Lawrence to the Buckeyes?

Not from my opinion. Orgeron has forged a strong relationship with Lawrence and he recently commented that he had a lengthy conversation with Dave Aranda, while describing him as a "mad scientist." All signs point to LSU and Orgeron to get another weapon today.
