A day after Indiana Tom Creaned against the IPFW Mastodons, LSU suffered the same fate and lost to an opponent from the mid-majors to begin play in the Battle 4 Atlantis.
Wichita State won the game 82-47 with shooting percentages from the field at 45.6% and from three-point range at 47.4%. The Shockers improved on their undefeated season and are now 5-0 as the Tigers suffered their first loss on the season and are now 3-1.
The Shockers began the game on a nine point run at the 15:30 mark of the first half. The Tigers behind Craig Victor, who made his season debut in the game, began to rally and cut into the lead. Also in the comeback bid were Jalyn Patterson and Kieran Hayward with a couple of big three-pointers. LSU trailed 13-9 with 11:14 remaining in the first half.
From there the Shockers put their foot on the proverbial pedal and never looked back. The lead grew to 20 points when the final media timeout of the first half was called, and at the half the score was 46-19. The second half was just a continuation of the saga that was the first half for the Tigers as their shooting woes continued.
Scoring leaders for the boys in purple and gold were Antonio Blakeney with 12 points, Duop Reath with 11 points, and Jalyn Patterson with seven points and eight rebounds.
LSU will face Louisville or Old Dominion in the night cap on Thanksgiving night at 8:30 CST. The game will be brought to you locally on 100.7 The Tiger and will be televised on AXS-TV.
