LSU fired this shot this morning with this tweet:
LSU will have a press conference today at NOON CT to announce its new head football coach. More details to follow.

Shortly thereafter, a source confirmed to And the Valley Shook that Ed Orgeron will have the interim tag taken off and be LSU’s next head coach.
LSU had been scheduled to speak with Tom Herman today via teleconference. This morning, Herman let Joe Alleva know that he would speak with Texas first. Alleva said “thanks but no thanks” and went with his guy.
This was also confirmed by FootballScoop.com and SB Nation’s Steven Godfrey.
Orgeron takes the job full-time following a 5-2 run as interim coach. We have more on his qualifications for the job in a profile here.
It’s doubtful that we’ll get any news on coordinators or plans like that today, but we’ll stay on top of the presser as it happens.
UPDATE:
Per The Advocate’s Ross Dellenger, Orgeron “blew away” Alleva and stakeholders in his meeting yesterday.
Ed Orgeron "blew away" #LSU decision-makers in a meeting Friday.

He brought with him a massive binder detailing long-term plans.
Lane Kiffin is certainly in those plans, and I imagine there are some other names as well.
