A piece of good news tonight, as LSU re-gained the committment of junior college prospect Stephen Guidry.
Guidry is out of Hinds Community College in Mississippi, but is originally from Morganza, La. He is rated as the top JUCO receiver prospect on 247 sports. The 6-4, 190-pound Guidry had been an LSU committment as of last summer, but decommitted shortly after Les Miles was fired.
With LSU losing at least one of the top three wideouts from this season, possibly Malachi Dupre to the NFL and Jazz Ferguson to transfer, there’s definitely an immediate need for a big, physical target and Guidry should be able to step into that role quickly.
Armchair analysis: his body type reminds me of Brandon LaFell a bit. Like that he high-points the ball and catches with his hands. Big-bodied guy, but seems to have a little wiggle on his breaks. Faces a lot of off coverage here, so wonder how he’ll respond to more physical corner play. Still, a good pickup that fills an immediate need for the Tigers.
