Your LSU Basketball Tigers (7-2) take on the Charleston Cougars for the third year in a row, with this matchup serving as the rubber match of the series. LSU handily won the first meeting 71-47 in the PMAC, with Charleston winning Game 2 in Charleston 70-58. This is LSU’s last “tuneup” before traveling to Winston-Salem to take on Wake Forest, and last home game before starting conference play.
For the fifth straight game, LSU is taking on a team with a higher RPI, as the Tigers currently sit at 90, and the Cougars 53. What’s more concerning, Charleston brings an 8-3 record to the PMAC, with a 2-1 record on the road, their lone loss to currently #2 Villanova. This game will be a defensive challenge for the Tigers, as Charleston only allows 58.6 PPG by their opponents. However, they are only scoring 62.7 PPG themselves.
Theoretically speaking, it shouldn’t be difficult for a team shooting 47% to put away a team shooting 38.2%, but nothing truly comes easy with our team. That being said, they are 7-2 and on a three game winning streak, so what do I know.
