The Tigers might have struck out on five-star tailback Cam Akers, but they did at least get the news that they are in the top five of stud defensive tackle prospect Marvin Wilson.

Wilson is the No. 1 defensive tackle in the Class of 2017, per 247 Sports, out of Bellaire, Texas, at 6-4 and 329 pounds. He’ll announce his decision on national signing day, choosing among LSU, Florida State, Ohio State, Oklahoma and South Florida. The Tigers currently lead in the 247 Crystal Ball predictions with 57 percent of the vote, but well...it’s recruiting.
Wilson is definitely a high priority for Ed Orgeron, and would pair with four-star Tyler Shelvin out of Lafayette, the No. 3 tackle in the class.
