The next big step in the 2016 NFL Draft process begins on Wednesday, and with four Tigers on the list, here's when to watch if you're so inclined as to watch the event on NFL Network.
Offensive linemen, running backs and specialists will kick things on of Wednesday, with media interviews -- watch for Vadal Alexander, who is a pretty eloquent kid and should handle himself well on the podium. Alexander and Jerald Hawkins will take the field for workouts on Friday. Both guys could have a lot to gain and could be top-100ish picks with some big workouts, particularly Hawkins, who has that classic NFL tackle build and more potential than he showed here. He was good, but not dominant as a left tackle last season. Alexander seems like a better fit to play inside as a guard, but could get some momentum to stay at tackle as well with some better workouts.
Defensive back seven players will get going on Friday, with interviews for linebackers followed by workouts on Saturday. DBs will have interviews Saturday and workouts on the final day, Sunday. Departed seniors Deion "Debo" Jones and Jalen Mills are on the rolls for LSU and likewise have a chance to gain some momentum rolling following some strong Senior Bowl workouts.
Jones' huge senior year and speed have grabbed scouts' attention, so he's on the list of guys expected to shine in the 40-yard dash at his position. His lack of size makes him more of a scheme fit for a team that runs something like the Tampa-2, but then again everybody likes speed at linebacker, so that might count a bit more.
Mills has played just about every defensive back position here at LSU, so his combine workouts will go a long way towards projecting exactly where he winds up for NFL teams. Mills and Jones were four-year stalwarts for LSU's defense and special teams, and while I'm not sure either has star potential at the next level I could see both contributing for a few years if they can stay healthy.
