Four-star defensive back Saivion Smith joins LSU's recruiting class of 2016. Smith was one of LSU's five early enrollees in the class. He is already on campus and will go through spring practices with the team.
Smith committed to LSU in February of last year and never so much as wavered on his commitment. After committing, Smith never bothered to even take another of his offiical visits and scarcely entertained other coaching staffs. While he started the cycle as a Composite 5-star, Smith struggled some throughout his senior year and in camps, dropping him slightly. Smith is still considered a top 50 player in the 2016 signing class. While he's currently listed as a corner, his unique ball skills may make him an ideal candidate for the free safety spot. As an early enrollee, Smith will compete for playing time right away.
