UPDATE, 11:53 a.m.: Martin makes it official and will sign with LSU. He marks the 24th member of LSU's 2016 recruiting class.

LSU closed signing day 2016 with one of the very best classes in the nation, amassing an elite collection of players that really hit a lot of needs. Some expressed frustration at a seeming lack of usage of all available spots, and, at this point, we don't have a full answer to that question.
However, one answer may be coming today, in the way of New Orleans pass-rusher, Sci Martin.
Martin, we're told, is being recruited as a rush linebacker. He's truly known for his pass rushing ability, something which LSU has lacked in recent years. The former TCU commitment caught Ed Orgeron's eye after putting up a dazzling 33.5 (!) sack season as a Senior.
At 6'4", 230, Martin has the frame to see the field right away, certainly as a situational pass rusher.
As you can see, Martin plays standing up some already. He's got a long ways to go in terms of refining his skill set, but he has a closing speed you absolutely cannot teach. Furthermore, he adds more depth to a LB core desperately in need of bodies as LSU transitions to Aranda's 3-4 base.
There's always a possibility Martin could pull a shocker and not choose LSU, though I highly doubt this happens. Score one more for LSU 2016 Signing Class and newly minted recruiting coordinator Ed Orgeron. Martin put off his announcement from signing day, reportedly due to a situation involving a family illness, and was set to announce last Friday at his high school, but classes were cancelled due to the flooding that has stricken Louisiana. Things are scheduled for 11:30 a.m. today and we'll have more news as it comes in.
