Baseball Weekend Preview: LSU vs. Fordham

The Rams coming crashing into Alex Box.

Weekend! Weekend Preview! Weekend Preview Yeah!

Hi guys. Welcome to yet another edition of the ATVS baseball weekend preview. After taking two of three from Sacramento State and beating Nicholls St. in the midweek, LSU welcomes the Rams of Fordham...UGH. I really don't care. I understand teams from the North need to play games, but I can't even pretend to care about this series.

All I ask for is one marquee non-con match up a season. Just one. I need that baseball methadone before SEC play starts.

Anyways, here's Fordham.

Some of the Fordham bats are off to a good start in 2016. McNally appears to be the big bat in the lineup. He is the only player on the team with a home run, and leads the team in every power category. McNally is also okay on the base paths with three steals on five attempts.

Outside of these top three guys, it has been slim picking for the Rams lineup. Only one other player has a batting average above 0.200 and only two other players have extra base hits.

In seven games, the Rams managed only 29 runs compared to LSU's 63 in eight games. Since they don't generate a lot of offense, Fordham tries to swipe bases as much as possible. They are 14-18 so far in stolen bases, and I expect they'll try to swipe bags as much as they can this weekend.

I'm actually slightly baffled by the Fordham pitching staff.

Weissart, their Friday starter, appears to be as solid as they come. His ERA is a low 1.74 so far, and that's after a solid 4.33 ERA last season.

The rest of the starting staff appears to have been beat up quite a bit, but the bullpen appears to be doing okay. I think the starters just haven't been pitching well. They've give up a lot of hits to less than stellar competition. On the flip side, it appears that the bullpen is doing okay against said not so good competition. I would expect LSU's lineup to get to these guys a bit.

Should You Be Worried?

No. Sacramento St. was easily a better team. There isn't really anyone in this Fordham lineup or pitching staff that should give LSU too much to worry about.

What's the weather going to be like?

I dunno about y'all, but this ram looks depressed to me. It stares long into the abyss and the abyss just stares back. F+

Prediction

Spurs 2 Arsenal 1. Oh, and LSU sweeps.
