Light first day for the Tigers in helmets only -- check out some observations from The Advocate and Tiger Rag here and here.

Injuries: Ethan Pocic, Devin Voorhies, Kevin Toliver, Travin Dural, Nick Brossette and J.D. Moore were all missing or limited, in addition to Dillon Gordon (still seeking his extra year of eligibility), Derrius Guice, Jevonte Domond, Foster Moreau, Corey Thompson and Anthony Jennings, who was reportedly out due to a mid-term exam.

Dave Aranda did a two-part interview series with NOLA.com's Jim Kleinpeter here and here that outlines a few of the new defensive wrinkles. Early on it seems that Tashawn Bower and Isaiah Washington will be joining Arden Key at outside linebacker, while Neal stays on the defensive line. Freshman Devin White is working with the inside linebackers, which makes sense given the thin depth there and LSU's loaded running back position.

In terms of a division of coaching labor, Aranda will be working with the inside 'backers, while Bradley Dale Peveto and Ed Orgeron will each work with the outside guys. Presumably with Orgeron coaching rush/edge techniques and Peveto dealing with coverage concepts when they're playing to the field.
