Allie Walljasper pitched a complete game shutout in LSU's 5-0 victory over Southern Miss, Tuesday night in Baton Rouge.
Coming off a solid weekend against Georgia, Walljasper picked up her second shutout of the season surrendering six hits, two walks and striking out four. She also made her presence felt at the plate, going one for three. This marked the first time in almost a month that Walljasper had pitched a midweek game, with duties mainly being handled by Sydney Smith
LSU's offense was consistent to say the least, scoring one run in every inning from the second inning to the sixth.
The long ball was prevalent in the win with Sahvanna Jaquish and Amber Serrett going yard in the victory. Serrett also recorded an RBI with a sac-fly in the second inning. It was promising seeing both Serrett and Jaquish have a solid performance since both had been slumping of late.
Kellsi Kloss recorded an RBI triple in the game and Akiya Thomas, stole two bases and scored the final LSU run on an errant throw.
Torina deployed an interesting lineup in Wednesday's game, with Emily Griggs hitting in the nine spot, while Sandra Simmons led off and Bailey Landry hitting second.
Earlier in the week, LSU moved up one spot in the USA Softball poll, going from 10th to 9th, while maintaining the 8th spot in the latest Coaches Poll.
A slightly different schedule this weekend with Kentucky coming to town and the series beginning on Saturday and running through Monday.
