The free day in Hoover has passed and it's time to get serious once again. Now down to 4 teams, the Tournament reverts back to single elimination. It's win or go home for everyone.
The other side of the bracket will go first. A&M eliminated SEC East champion South Carolina and the walloped Vandy to advance out of the losers bracket while Ole Miss has been fighting from Tuesday as the #7 seed with the hopes of making one last push for a Top 8 National seed. Their game begins at Noon.
LSU is also making an improbable run from the Tuesday bracket and is fighting for the same National Seed Ole Miss is after. The Tigers will have the benefit/curse of trying to do it against possibly the best team in the nation as Florida sent SEC Champion Miss St home last night with a whuppin. Beating any SEC team 4 out of 5 times over the course of 10 days would be tough enough, though the Tigers will get the benefit of not having to face the mysteriously disappearing Logan Shore on the mound as all indications are that UF will start lightly used LHP Scott Moss (2-0, 2.20 ERA, 16.1 IP, 10 H, 4 ER, 8 BB, 24 K) instead. LSU will counter with the Pride of Hoover High, RHP Caleb Gilbert. The rest of the bullpen will be available, excepting Jake Latz, who Mainieri says might be available Sunday if LSU advances. starting 3B Chris Reid is questionable after falling ill and leaving the game early against State on Thursday night. We'll find out his status closer to game time.
LSU v UF will start 30 minutes after the end of the first game. Both games are on the SEC Network, with Kyle Peterson and Chris Burke on the call. SEC Radio Network's national feed will be on Sirius 145 / XM 190 and free in the tunein app.
