Jacob Phillips Flips Commitment to LSU

Huge four-star linebacker prospect.

Ka. Boom.

For the past few weeks we’ve written over and over about the need to secure linebackers in this signing class and today composite four-star Jacob Phillips made the call and switched his long-standing commitment from OU to LSU.

This is a major, major domino in the 2017 signing class. LSU’s roster is currently lean on options and the sting of losing Dylan Moses and Chris Allen looked to worsen when LSU didn’t seem to have other options in place.

Yet, have no fear, because Orgeron and Aranda are here. The tandem went to work. Phillips is a true ILB that can easily play day one for LSU. He recently had a dominant showing at the Army All-American bowl, where he spent time bonding with another LSU LB target, Willie Gay.

The commitment bumps LSU up to the no. 6 overall class in the 2017 composite. There’s only one official visit weekend left and we’re just six days away from signing day. Hold on to your hats, folks. We’re in for a big finish.
