Baseball is approaching fast, and Coach Mainieri has been hitting the interview circuit in the local papers. In the Times-Pic, Mainieri gives one of the more detailed accounts I’ve seen of his early career, both playing and coaching, and then talks about the current roster and guarantees that LSU will have a 3rd starter this season. In The Advocate, Mainieri talks at length about last summer’s offer for the Texas job and what ultimately made him decide to stay.

Along with a pay raise for himself and the assistants, Mainieri also got LSU to commit to a few facilities upgrades, including a new video coordinating office and a full time coach to run it. The Advocate has an interview with Jamie Tutko, LSU Baseball’s new full-time video coordinator.

It has also been announced that LSU will retire Todd Walker’s jersey on Friday night of the Ole Miss series weekend on April 14th.

Baseball’s Media day and first practice are today. Our man @AdamATVS will be on the scene.

ESPN has put out their big baseball preseason release detailing their TV plans. Highlights include 135 regular season games on regular TV and an impressive 450+ games slated for the ESPN3 service.

Head LSU Strength coach Tommy Moffitt, who was one of Nick Saban’s first hires at LSU, has gotten a new contract that will keep him at LSU through 2019. The now Assistant AD will have his annual compensation rise to $400K. Moffitt was on local radio this week detailing the new workout program that LSU will be sending out immediate to all new players on signing day.

LSU Gym has decided that they need their own website and frankly, it’s amazing.

Down at the Senior Bowl, Tre'Davious White twisted his ankle in practice and will now miss the game this weekend. Dwayne Thomas is heading to the Senior bowl in his place. Meanwhile, Ethan Pocic is letting the world know THE RIVALRY WITH TULANE WILL NEVER DIE

Pocic also reveled that Will Clapp played the entire season with a torn labrum in his shoulder, and is recovering well from off season surgery.
