GAMETHREAD: LSU @ Texas Tech, 1pm, ESPNU

NCAA Basketball: Florida at Louisiana State Stephen Lew-USA TODAY Sports

With National Signing Day happening in just a few days and baseball just around the corner, there is at least some relief coming for LSU fans from a basketball season that seems destined to end only one way. Now a game below .500 and with a 1-7 SEC record (a record worse than what led to John Brady’s mid-season dismissal in 2007), it seems a matter of when, not if, the Johnny Jones tenure will come to it’s now merciful end.

There’s not much to say about this team that hasn’t been said over the last two months. The 326th ranked scoring defense is ineffectual, to put it kindly, the offense is incapable up keeping up with even the lowliest of SEC teams, and, perhaps worst of all, the team seems lost and unmotivated as the inevitability of this season’s outcome has settled in. And who could blame them? It’s hard to keep marching forward when the light at the end of the tunnel is an oncoming train.

SO LET’S MIX IT UP WITH A MID SEASON OOC GAME IN THE FAR WEST TEXAS DESERT!

It’s SEC-BXII Challenge weekend, and outside of the bluebloods who got their marquee meaningless regular season college basketball showcase, the rest of the teams in both conferences are just going through the motions as their fans spend the weekend pouring over recruiting rankings. Texas Tech is 14-6 and their 3-5 conference record is good for 7th in their league. That seems good. The Red Raiders are no longer coached by Tubby Smith, so I no longer know anything about their team worth mentioning

The game is on ESPNU at 1pm. @marq113 will be along soon on twitter and in the comments below to provide updates.
