Last week’s loss to Vanderbilt in the PMAC and the loss of former forward Craig Victor were huge punches to the gut for the program, there’s no sugar coating that. Vanderbilt isn’t a great basketball team, and Thursday really should’ve been a win. Follow that up with an away game when LSU is 1-3 outside the PMAC, and we’ve got a lot on our plate. Luckily, Missouri just might be the worst team in the SEC.
I know you’re thinking every SEC team behind Kentucky and Florida is bad, but Missouri is legitimately the only team in the conference with a losing record at 5-7. Aside from a one point loss to a very good Xavier team, Missouri fell hard against teams like Eastern Illinois, Lipscomb, and mutual opponent NC Central. The Missouri Tigers are on a four game losing streak going into tonight’s SEC opener.
Simply put, this is by far the easiest game we’ll have on the road, something LSU desperately needs to take advantage of these days. Missouri ranks dead last in the SEC in shooting at 39.7% from the field and an abysmal 27.2% behind the arc. I’ve got no advice for LSU besides to let Mizzou have some fun passing the ball around for thirty seconds and just wait for the rebound.
Tonight’s “basketball game” will tip off at 8pm on the SEC Network, join the discussion in the comments below! And yeah, this season could be going a bit smoother, but we’ve got 18 games left including tonight and still a lot to play for. However, a loss to Mizzou would mean it’s time to flip the Monopoly board and go home...have fun watching!
