After rallying back from a poor first half, the Tigers left Columbia with an impressive victory to even out the conference record at 1-1. Today, they’ve got their eyes on Mississippi State and that first home conference win. The Bulldogs come into Baton Rouge with their own 9-4 record, their lone conference contest ending with a loss to Alabama Tuesday.
If you’re still upset at LSU’s loss to Vanderbilt last week, rest assured the Commodores aren’t the worst team in the SEC; they just creamed Bruce Pearl’s Auburn Tigers by 19. The SEC always shapes up to be an unpredictable (besides Kentucky winning) conference where you can never really pinpoint how the standings will shakeup by March. Just sip some bourbon and enjoy the ride.
The Bulldogs are averaging 72.7 PPG and are shooting about 44.9% from the field. This could be a good opportunity for the Tigers to figure things out on defense, who have allowed more than 75 points in their last three games. Sophomore guard Quinndary Weatherspoon is averaging 18.0 PPG and 1.9 STPG, good for fourth and third in the SEC, respectively.
This afternoon’s SEC contest tips off at 2:30, and will be televised on the SEC Network. Follow along on Twitter @marq113, or join the discussion in the comments below!
