So uh, this started out as a decommitment story, as four-star Texas lineman Chasen Hines had been rumored to be decommitting from LSU. Hines, a composite four-star prospect from Marshall, Texas, was recently offered by the home-state Longhorns as a defensive tackle. Hines committed to LSU back in March as a guard. His other offers include Florida, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State.
It seems Ed Orgeron was able to make a similar offer to Hines and keep him in the fold. I’ll leave it to Dan for analysis on this, but at 6-2, 335 Hines certainly has the frame of a typical nose tackle, which would be a major need on this team right now.
