Ja’Vonte Smart, a four star point guard from Scotlandville Magnet, is regarded as the top prospect from the state of Louisiana, and is ranked 29th overall by 247sports and 32nd overall by ESPN.
“We are very excited to have Ja’Vonte joining our LSU basketball family,” said Coach Will Wade. “As a point guard, it is important to be a leader. We appreciate his leadership in committing early to LSU and then helping us recruit players to join him.”
“He has all the tools to become a high-impact player at the collegiate level and beyond,” added Wade. “He has length and good ball-handling skills that he uses to attack the rim along with good jump shooting ability. We look forward to following his senior season at Scotlandville as they pursue another state title.”
Last season, Smart led Scotlandville to its second state title in three seasons, and averaged 25.1 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 6.4 assists.

Darius Days, a four star forward who will play his senior season at IMG Academy, joins the Tigers as the 65th overall prospect, according to 247.
“Darius is a gifted scorer and shooter from range. He has shown his ability to handle the ball in several different positions at his high school and we know he has a work ethic that will fit in with what we are trying to do here at LSU,” Wade said.
Smart and Days are anticipated to be joined by fellow LSU commit Nazreon Reid, a five star power forward, as early as Monday. Between these three players, LSU’s 2018 recruiting class is currently ranked third overall, only behind North Carolina and Kansas.
