Tigers hope to break seven game skid against one of the SEC’s top teams

NCAA Basketball: Florida at Louisiana State Stephen Lew-USA TODAY Sports

National Signing Day was going so well, wasn’t it?

LSU returns to the PMAC on another Wednesday night, this time with a seven game losing streak. Unfortunately no relief from this skid seems to be in sight, and the Tiger defense isn’t the only reason. If you’ve paid any kind of attention to the SEC outside of LSU and Kentucky, you’ll know South Carolina is sitting pretty at second place in the conference with a 17-4 (7-1) record, their lone conference loss to Kentucky.

A big part of the Gamecocks’ success is their incredibly stout defense, as they allow only 60.8 points per game, good for 6th (!!) in the nation. For comparison’s sake, LSU is currently ranked 331st in the nation, allowing 80.7 points per game. I can confidently say this will not end well. Remember how Florida beat us while scoring 106? South Carolina beat Florida while holding them to 53 points. The script is writing itself.

Tonight’s contest will tip off at 8pm, and it’ll be televised on the SEC Network. Follow along on Twitter @marq113 for live updates, or keep up and join the discussion in the comments below!
