After a secondary-conference opening loss to New Orleans last week, LSU returns to Southland Conference play against Nicholls.
Bullpen collapse against the Privateers notwithstanding, LSU has been rolling through the early season slate. Nicholls has had their ups and downs so far, starting with the split against Wake Forest where they lost 5-0 before beating the Deacons. The Colonels would lose to Houston on Sunday to end the weekend, but beat ULL 3-1 before losing 10-1 to Hofstra. Nicholls is coming off of a 3-0 over LIU Brooklyn and a 11-4 win over Wagner. Nicholls famously beat LSU to open the midweek slate in 2015, the last time the two sides played in Alex Box Stadium/Skip Bertman Field. LSU has the advantage over Nicholls in the all-time series, 52-23 with wins over Nicholls in 25 of the last 27 matchups.
