LSU at the NFL Combine: Day 1

Pro meat market begins for Fournette, Pocic.

NFL: Combine Brian Spurlock-USA TODAY Sports

Tigers Leonard Fournette and Ethan Pocic reported to the NFL Scouting Combine today, with workouts set to begin tomorrow.

Fournette’s 240-pound reporting weight drew a few eyebrows, but the consensus seems to be that NFL teams aren’t all that concerned right now. The man himself passed it off to water weight:

He also noted that he plans to run the 40-yard dash tomorrow. Even at a few pounds above his playing weight, if he’s in the 4.4 range, he’ll almost definitely still be the the first back taken.

The Mothership has a fantastic primer on the workout results for the backs here. Bench-press is in the books, although Fournette did not participate there. He’ll go the full gamut at LSU’s Pro Day. SB Nation’s Dan Kadar currently has No. 7 drafted fifth, with the Carolina Panthers trading up to get him.

Other combine workout details are as follows:

Pocic also met with the media. He also threw up a strong 26 reps on the bench press.

Among the NFL coaches that met with media in Indianapolis, Pete Carroll had some nice things to say about his old defensive line coach as well.
