Tigers to wrap up both home and midweek schedule against Demons.

After a sweep of Auburn where LSU without a doubt played their best baseball of the year, LSU plays their final home game of the year when they welcome Northwestern State to Alex Box Stadium/Skip Bertman Field.

The conference regular season title will be on the line starting on Thursday when the Tigers start their final series of the year against Mississippi State, but first Paul Mainieri has something he wants to avoid: going .500 in midweek play. Despite having history going perfect in a season’s midweek games, the 2017 Tigers are 7-6 overall in the midweek games.

History is on LSU’s side though, as the Tigers lead the all-time series against the Demons 56-11, winning 18 of the last 19 meetings between the two in-state opponents. LSU won last year’s meeting 7-2, but the series is most remembered for 2014’s rain-shortened, 27-0 no-hitter LSU pitched against the Demons that also gave us this gif:

With a huge series against Mississippi State Looming, expect to see a good plenty of pitchers make their way to the mound for the Tigers.

Starting Pitchers

NWST: Kyle Swanson (5.20 ERA, 36.1 IP, 1.47 K/BB [22/25])

LSU: Todd Peterson (4.39 ERA, 26.2 IP, 1.00 K/BB [13/13])
