Even without having coached a single game for LSU yet, Tigers basketball Will Wade has already worked wonders.
Friday, 5-star point guard Javonte Smart announced his commitment to LSU via Twitter. He is the newest member of the 2018 recruiting class.

Back in May, Smart had praised LSU and suggested he wanted to keep his basketball career in his home state.
“It’s the home school. They are pretty good and they are in the SEC. So it’s so close it’s a good thing… “I’ve talked to [Will Wade] a few times. He’s young and a hard worker.” he said.
An ESPN top 100 player and the No. 17 overall prospect in his class, Smart will be key to turning things around for the LSU basketball team this year. The 6’4, 185 pound Louisiana-native averaged 15.1 points and 4.2 assists per game when he played for the Houston Hoops on the Nike EYBL circuit.
By choosing LSU, Smart passes up offers from other major programs that made his top 6. These included Kentucky, Oklahoma State, UCLA, Florida State and Kansas.
