Not a bad way to log in to twitter tonight.

Coach O’s official twitter sounder was soon followed by the news that LSU added a much-needed offensive tackle prospect in Cameron Wire.

Wire is a composite three-star prospect from East Ascension High School in nearby Gonzales, La. At 6-6, 271, Wire has the frame to grow into a left or right tackle. While he may not have all of the national accolades at the moment — Wire rates 40th in the 247 Sports rankings at offensive tackle and 499th overall as a prospect — he does claim an offer list with all of the nation’s top programs: Alabama, Florida State, Oklahoma, Florida, Auburn and more.

He’ll need to fill out his frame, obviously, but I see quick feet and very good hands. Wire definitely knows how to use his arm length to his advantage. He moves in space the way you’d like, and he’s a bit of a bully. Needs to learn to bend at the knees instead of the waist, but that’s usually the biggest adjustment for most prospects. Will have to adjust to bigger and stronger competition though.

Wire marks the 17th commitment for LSU in the class of 2018, and a big one after Willie Allen’s departure.
