2018 DB Nadab Joseph Decommits

South Florida defensive back reopens recruitment.

NCAA Football: Citrus Bowl-Louisiana State vs Louisville Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

LSU’s 2018 recruiting class suffered another blow today, when top 250 safety Nadab Joseph announced via Twitter that he was opening up his recruitment:

Joseph is a top-250 talent listed as a CB/S depending on your recruiting service of preference. LSU was looking at him to play corner. He’s recently been offered by Alabama, and a host of other schools remain in the hunt as well.

Joseph jumped on board over a year ago, but wants to step back and explore his options. Frankly, if you are going to de-commit, the timing here makes perfect sense. Joseph can now go into the process with an open mind, take all of his official visits and make the best choice for himself.

LSU will remain in the hunt and I’d never count out Corey Raymond in a recruiting battle, especially with how he’s recruited the state of Florida the past several seasons. Though this one seems like it may take a turn for the bad guys.

Big picture wise, this drops LSU from the top-10 and worsens their blue-chip ratio to now only 7 4/5-star talents to 12 3-star and below talents. There’s still plenty of time left for LSU to cement a top flight signing class, so it should be interesting to see how the staff proceeds through the process. Joseph may or may not be in the picture, but the loaded DB spot should ease any future concerns.
