LSU will have representatives on both of this year’s Super Bowl participants, marking the 17th straight big game with some Tiger participants:
It’s the 17th year in a row that a former LSU Tiger will play in the Super Bowl. That streak is the longest in the Southeastern Conference and dates back to Super Bowl XXXVI in 2002 when Kevin Faulk made his first Super Bowl appearance with the New England Patriots.
Punter Donnie Jones and defensive back Jalen Mills both play for the Eagles — Mills had a huge post-season, helping Philadelphia clinch the divisional round of the playoffs with several big plays on Atlanta’s Julio Jones.
Defensive tackle Ricky Jean Francois will suit up for the Patriots. It’s his second Super Bowl as a pro, after playing in Super Bowl for San Francisco in 2013.
