Freshman forward Galen Alexander has been effectively dismissed from the LSU Men’s Basketball team. The 6’6” Alexander played in nine games for the Tigers this season, averaging 1.9 points and 2.1 rebounds.
Wade: Galen Alexander will take a leave of absence from the team for the rest of the season. "Look for other places at end of the season."— Cody Worsham (@CodyWorsham) January 29, 2018
Freshman forward Mayan Kiir will no longer be a part of the 2017-18 roster, but his future at LSU appears to still have some legs to stand on.
Wade on Kiir: He's somebody who's going to take a leave of absence as well. He could possibly be back.— Cody Worsham (@CodyWorsham) January 29, 2018
"He's not dismissed or anything like that...He needs some time."
Wade said if Kiir “meets certain standards,” he could return to the team at the end of the semester, well after the end of the basketball season. Kiir played in eight games for the Tigers this season, averaging 1.9 points and 2.0 rebounds.
Sophomore forward Wayde Sims and freshman guard Brandon Rachal have both been suspended for Wednesday night’s game against #18 Tennessee. Both suspensions were handed out for a violation of team rules, the details of which are currently undisclosed.
After losing Jeremy Combs to injury, losing two more forwards for the season doesn’t help with the already troublesome depth issues. The Tigers are now down to 11 active, 9 scholarship players on their roster, leaving only three forwards. LSU will play with only two active forwards (Reath and Epps) Wednesday night.
