LSU has begun filling the first of the final four spots in the 2018 recruiting class today, when four-star safety Kelvin Joseph committed at the U.S. Army All-American game.
Joseph, 6-1, 191 pounds, is a four-star prospect in the 247 Sports Composite, from Scottlandville High School in Baton Rouge. He had committed to LSU originally as an underclassmen before decommitting earlier this fall. After some flirtation with Alabama and other programs, speculation began to swing back LSU’s way late in 2017. Joseph is reportedly very close to mega basketball recruit Javonte Smart, and many believed Smart’s commitment to Will Wade would be a big factor in Joseph’s decision.
Joseph, nicknamed “Fat,” is a top-100 national prospect, the fourth-rated safety and the No. 3 prospect in the state of Louisiana for 2017.
