4-Star Marcus Banks De-Commits

Leaving DBU doesn’t seem the wisest.

Back in June, Houston CB Marcus Banks verbally pledged to LSU after his official visit. Banks, considered a heavy Texas A&M lean, shocked many by picking LSU. Today, Banks re-opened his commitment:

Banks was a bit underrated when he picked LSU, and he’s since risen up to 4-star status after a strong performance at the Opening Finals.

There’s a couple new crystal ball picks in for Banks, one to A&M and a pair to Bama. Odds are, he won’t be re-committing back to LSU.

This is notable considering rumors in recent weeks that stud DB Maurice Hampton may also be looking around, perhaps at SEC W rival Ole Miss. This drops LSU to 19 total commitments, with six remaining spots to fill.

LSU still has the no. 1 CB in America, Derek Stingley, JUCO CB Dreshun Miller, and 3-star Cordale Flott committed, but odds are they’d like to add another player or two, especially with the likely departure of Greedy Williams this fall. One would think attention would turn to NOLA native Devin Bush and 4-star MS native Raydarious Jones, but perhaps they’ll kick the tires on guys like Erick Young and Joey Porter Jr., who they were heavily recruiting before the prospects chose other schools.

Not great news coming off a big win, but there’s still time to nab an equitable prospect. Why would any DB pass on LSU? Beats me.
