Women’s Hoops Facing Tulane Tonight

Lady Tigers taking on the two Great Evils of this world: Hunger and The Greenies.

NCAA Womens Basketball: SEC Conference Tournament-Texas A&M vs Louisiana State Christopher Hanewinckel-USA TODAY Sports

On Thursday, the LSU women's basketball team will look to keep their perfect record intact when they take on Tulane. The Lady Tigers currently hold a record of 2-0 after beating Sam Houston State and Northern Colorado by a combined margin of 19 points.

In last year’s campaign, Lisa Stockton’s Green Wave went 14-17 and missed out on the NCAA tournament.

In the Tiger’s first two games of the season, junior Ayana Mitchell has played fantastic. The forward has averaged 17 points and 16.5 rebounds. Mitchell will look to make it three straight double-doubles for herself on Thursday.

If LSU is to move to 3-0 on the season, they will need to slow down Krystal Freeman. In Tulane’s season opener against Texas Southern, Freeman shot 8-9 from the field and led the Green Wave in scoring.

Head Coach Nikki Fargas has the dubious distinction of being an LSU head coach with a losing record to the Greenies. The Lady Tigers are 3-4 against Tulane while she has been head coach, a series which LSU leads all time 31-8. LSU has won the last 2 and Coach Fargas can get to .500 with a win tonight.

The game will tip off at 6:30 CT and can be viewed on SECN+. The Lady Tigers are running a food drive for our friends at the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank. Fans can get in to the game for free with a a canned good or non-perishable food item.
