In news that should be of no surprise, sophomore safety Grant Delpit has been named as one of the five finalists for the Bronko Nagurski Award, which goes to the top defensive player in college football.
Delpit joins Kentucky linebacker Josh Allen, Michigan linebacker Devin Bush, Clemson defensive tackle Christian Wilkins and Alabama nose guard Quinnen Williams as finalists. He has 63 tackles, five sacks, five interceptions and another 11 passes defended on the season.
It won’t be the last list Delpit will make, as the sophomore from Houston is a sure bet to make multiple All-American teams, and the Thorpe Award list as well.
LSU’s Glenn Dorsey has previously won the award in 2007. The Bronko Nagurski Trophy recipient will be chosen from these five finalists by the FWAA All-America Committee after voting input from the association’s entire membership.
The annual Bronko Nagurski Trophy Banquet, presented by ACN, will be held on Mon., Dec. 3 at the Charlotte Convention Center.
