Although we haven’t reached the early signing period for the 2019 class, that hasn’t stopped the LSU class from looking further into the future, and it paid off today as four-star offensive tackle Courtland Ford committed to LSU tonight over the likes of Alabama and TCU a couple days after his visit for the Alabama game.
Built Ford Tough
At 6-6, 305 pounds, Ford is the perfect size for a tackle prospect. It’s hard to draw a lot off of film when these top-tier linemen are just more physically dominant than their lesser competition, but Ford shows good athleticism at his size, showing the ability to get to the second level and get down field. While the 305 pounds is a little light, he still has plenty time to fill out his frame to add about the 10-15 more pounds to get to that SEC level.
Ford becomes the sixth commit of 2020, joining Kayshon Boutte, Jaquelin Roy, Darin Turner, Kris Abrams-Draine and TJ Finley, giving the Tigers the No. 4 ranked class. The 2020 class has the potential to be a special one following a hopefully successful 2019 haul, paving the way for LSU to dig further into that ground they still have to make up. Protecting the quarterback is a major priority, and future LSU QBs can rest a little easier tonight knowing the likes of a tackle of Ford’s caliber will be out there with them.
