GAMETHREAD: Baseball @ SLU, 6pm, Cox Sports

Game 2 of 5 over 6 days, LSU’s long week continues with the first road game of the season, as the Tigers travel down I-12 to beautiful Hammond, America. The Southeastern Lions (5-3) host tonight’s contest, renewing the rivalry among LSU’s best in-state competition. SLU got a home win over USL in the midweek last week 5-2, but dropped a home series to #25 UCONN this past weekend. The Lions were picked to finish second in the highly competitive Southland Conference this season and have a preseason All-American in SR 3B Taylor Schwaner, who’s hitting .344/.438/.432 so far in this young season.

It’ll be a raucous crowd tonight, this game sold out in 20 minutes earlier this spring and you can bet they’ll pack as many as they can on the parking deck in right field. SLU hasn’t announced a starter, but LSU will be throwing So. LHP Nick Bush (8.31 ERA on 4.1 IP) who can hopefully go a long way. LSU used Hilliard and Cabrera in relief last night, so the bullpen is pacing well so far this week.

As is the case with all LSU road games within Louisiana, Cox Sports TV has the broadcast tonight. The game is on ESPN3 nationally, but if you’re in the blackout zone below, including the entire state, you can only watch this game on Cox Sports. If you don’t have Cox cable (like, say, me) there’s always the free radio stream on LSUSports.net and the app.
