Coming off an atrocious 95-70 loss against Auburn, the Tigers (13-9 4-6) were able to redeem themselves with a 94-86 win over the Arkansas Razorbacks (15-8, 4-6) and a new season high of 15 triples.
Arkansas took the early lead, as the Tigers missed their first couple of threes. But the momentum quickly shifted in LSU’s favor.
Tremont Waters started off hot, and stayed that way. The point guard put up a total of 10 points, and had six assists. Edwards also made moves for the Tigers, racking up 14 points - just one point short of his career high of 15 points vs. UT - Martin.
LSU led the Hogs at the end of the half, 43-35.
To open the second half of the action, LSU hit four three-pointers in just four minutes.
Skylar Mays made his presence known, coming up with 15 points, all scored in the bottom half.
Waters had a total of 27 points and hit a career-high 11 assists when all said and done. Three times before, he totaled 10 assists.
With just over four minutes left, the Hogs brought themselves within six points of the Tigers. Waters quickly dashed those hopes, boosting the LSU lead 80-72. Mays stuck the final dagger in, extending the lead 87-76, with 1:15 remaining on the clock. Epps sealed the deal with two final and successful free throws.
With the victory, LSU snapped Arkansas’ 30-game when scoring 80 points or more.
LSU will continue the season as it takes on the Florida Gators (15-7, 6-3) at the Stephen C. O’Connell Center on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. CT. The Gators are currently ranked No. 23 in the nation.
