Inside Linebacker Zach Edwards Commits

LSU lands another defender out of the Magnolia State.

Zach Edwards

LSU landed its second defensive commitment from Mississippi tonight in Starkville inside linebacker Zach Edwards.

Edwards is a 6-2, 217-pound prospect and the 12th-rated inside linebacker prospect in the class of 2019, the 14th-best prospect in the state of Mississippi. He is a composite three-star player.

Well-built kid for his size. Diagnoses the play, strikes and makes the sure tackle, too. Seems like more of a developmental prospect than a day-one contributor, but LSU has the depth right now to bring kids like this along for two or three seasons.

LSU is making some interesting strides in Mississippi right now, while Ole Miss is down and State is going through a coaching transition. Good time for Louisiana’s neighbor to have a couple big-time prospects. But after striking out on a few big names from Miss. in recent years, we’ll have to see how Ed Orgeron and Dennis Johnson handle these prospects.
