Home Runs Power Tigers To Victory Over McNeese

A four-home run second inning by the Tigers propelled them to a 9-1 run rule victory over McNeese State.

The big second inning started out with a Taryn Antoine walk, and then after an Aliyah Andrews groundout, a walk by Emily Griggs. Amanda Doyle, the next batter, would launch a three-run homer. She would be followed by Shemiah Sanchez who would hit her second homer of the game, having hit a three-run home run in the first. After Shelbi Sunseri struckout, Michaela Schlattman homered, which was followed by an Amber Serrett home run, putting the Tigers up 9-0 after two innings.

Carley Hoover got the start, pitching five innings allowing an earned run while striking out nine, carrying a no hitter into the fifth.

The four home runs in an inning marks the second time in program history such an accomplishment had occurred. The five home runs in a game is tied for the second most in program history.

Tuesday’s game concludes LSU’s four game road trip and the Tigers will return to Tiger Park for a three game series against Ole Miss, beginning on Friday.
