Walljasper pitches Tigers past Houston

LSU one win away from Super Regional appearance.

The Tigers secured their appearance in the Baton Rouge regional championship with a 1-0 win over Houston, backed by an outstanding performance by Allie Walljasper.

Walljasper would pitch a complete game scattering five hits while striking out seven, keeping the Cougars off the board.

She did run into some tough spots. Starting in the second Walljasper worked out of first and second with no outs, securing two foul outs and a ground out to end the inning. In the third, with runners on first and third and one out, got a pair of ground outs, including one at the plate to escape that threat.

LSU’s offense was powered by the bottom of the order. In the fifth, Michaela Schlattman recorded a one-out single and would score two batters later following an Amber Serrett double to right. Schlattman, Serrett and Taryn Antoine. Houston hurler Savannah Heebner was impressive in her outing allowing just four hits, two walks and a run in her outing.

The Baton Regional championship game will be Sunday at 1PM against Lafayette with an if necessary game at 3:30 the same day.
