Good news for LSU hoops with reports today that sophomore point guard Tremont Waters has removed his name from the 2018 NBA Draft and will return to LSU for the 2018-2019 season.

Today was the deadline for withdrawing. Per The Advocate:

Waters worked out May 5 for the Oklahoma City Thunder, which was confirmed by his father, Ed, and visited the Boston Celtics on May 21.

He was also among six players who worked out Tuesday for the Atlanta Hawks before withdrawing from the draft.

Waters said the experience of working out for teams was a “blessing that words can’t describe” which helped him grasp a better understanding of the difference between the college game and the pros.

“But ... I feel it’s best that I return to LSU this year and continue to improve as a player, teammate, and most importantly a young MAN!” he wrote.

Waters put his name into the draft and attended some workouts after a Freshman All-SEC season that saw him lead LSU with 15.9 points, 6.0 assists and 2.0 steals per game. His return, coupled with a recruiting class that ranked third in the country per the 247 Sports composite, will put the Tigers in a strong position to make a run at the NCAA tournament in Will Wade’s second season.
