Eric Walker makes his first start since 2017 tonight for the Tigers

The undefeated, No. 1 ranked Tigers of LSU are back on the diamond tonight against the in-state Jaguars of Southern University.

Sophomore Eric Walker gets the start on the mound for the first time since the 2017 College World Series. Walker only threw two innings against Oregon State before tearing the UCL in his right elbow.

The Tigers are 7-0 for the fifth time under Paul Mainieri, the most 7-0 starts under one manager in program history.

Southern is off to a 4-2 start. Southern is batting .282 collectively with eight doubles, three triples and six home runs. The Jaguars are also aggressive on the base path, stealing 24 bases in 25 attempts. Hunter Davis, Southern’s junior first baseman and catcher, leads the Jaguars with a .450 batting average.
