Lorando Johnson commits to LSU!

Four-Star CB pledges DBU

LSU picked up a second 2020 defensive back commitment Wednesday when four-star corner Lorando Johnson committed to LSU.

The prospect from Lancaster, Texas is the 11th ranked corner in the class of 2020 and the the 18th ranked player to come out of Texas. Johnson comes in at 6’0” 181 and hold offers from your usual suspects, including Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Ohio State, Oklahoma State, Ole Miss, TCU, and Texas A&M.

Johnson’s commitment comes on the heels of his visit to LSU’s spring game. As it stands, Johnson is the second DB commit in the Tigers’ 2020 class alongside top-ranked prospect Elias Ricks out of Mater Dei High School.

With Ricks coming in alongside Johnson and Stingley ahead of them, competition for spots are going to be fierce, but Johnson is athletic enough that he should be able to slide around positions in the defensive backfield easily.

Johnson has the athleticism and instincts that you’d expect from a four star corner back, but one that that’s refreshing on his tape is how well he wraps up in the open field. That’s not a deal breaker either way, but it certainly is a nice touch that allows him the opportunity to rover around the field as Aranda sees fit.
